Ryedale Family History Group was formed back in 2005. Various people thought there was scope for a new group in this area of North Yorkshire and the idea was widely supported. To start with the group had no fixed base but eventually settled in Hovingham Village Hall, its current home. The ‘Research Room’ is now well established in Hovingham and is open every Thursday between 10am and 3pm, welcoming visitors from the local area and beyond, including international researchers.
