Hello there, had a good month folks? I have! Well, eventually I did at any rate. First off, Assen was fun. Actually it wasn’t really fun at all as on the first day it pissed it down non stop. I had a crash on the final left turn. Yeah, that really fast one. The rear came around and kind of highsided me, an off the throttle one. So yeah, that was fun – not! It didn’t hurt though, amazingly. I dodged a bit of a bullet there.
Chaz was simply awesome at Imola
But it rained right up until the race, and the issue was the front tyre I usually use is on the softer side, and that one tends to be on the limit a bit when the track is dirty without much rubber laid down; it wears out a lot faster. So I opted for a slightly harder one, a soft-medium, but it still wasn’t hard enough and it gave up with five laps to go. That was frustrating as I was losing it everywhere. It was screwed, trying any harder would have seen me crashing the thing. I’d got to the front quickly enough and when there I just set a pace and tried to see it out, but the front was the wrong choice made through not having enough confidence in the hardest option. I was right behind Jonny on the last lap, and into turn one I lost the front, and it just kept going. I usually wear my knee-slider very evenly, but because I’d rolled over on it saving the bike, even the top of it was worn! Close one!
