Dragon Quest 8 A PS2 classic gets a makeover for the somewhat overlooked 3DS – and Nintendo haven’t scrimped on the bells and whistles. New characters, extra quests and the addition of full voice acting (we’re not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing given the reputation of voice acting in RPGS) all combine to create a bit of a premium feel to a well-loved classic. There’s a quicksave option and battles can be sped up for roleplayers on a time limit. How considerate! Out 20 January on 3DS.

RESIDENT EVIL 7: BIOHAZARD It’s been a common complaint that survival horror has taken a back seat to all-out action, but Biohazard certainly looks set to change that. Here, the series takes a somewhat inevitable turn towards first person and the emphasis is absolutely back on surviving. Starting in a derelict cottage, you find an overwhelming sense of horror, all mixed with a found footage vibe. Resident Evil, you’re back. Out 24 January on XBox One, PC and PS4.
