Cyndi Lauper is offering us a scone to accompany the pot of tea we’re sharing in the breakfast room of her plush London hotel. Our interview actually began about 20 minutes ago when we met Cyndi outside BBC Radio 2, after she’d finished regaling Chris Evans on air. We shook hands, hopped in the car that was waiting for her and started chatting as her driver whisked us to the hotel. It’s an unusual way to conduct an interview with a globally famous pop star and LGBT activist, but Cyndi is flying back to New York in a few hours and wanted to meet GT before she left.
