Nick Youngquest
We took a trip to Reykjavik with the face – and body – of Paco Rabanne’s new Invictus Intense fragrance. It turns out that former rugby star Nick Youngquest is anything but intense, though…
GROOMING
WORDS darren scott
Did you start looking after your skin from a young age? When I was probably about 16 or 17. I was always quite lucky, I never really had bad skin or anything. My mum just said I should take care of my skin and use some cleanser! I was like ‘what’s this crap’ at the start – when you’re young it’s kind of annoying, I guess. Straight guys, they look at you like ‘what’re you doing?’, but if it’s OK for women, why is it not OK for us? It takes five minutes out of every day. I quite enjoy it actually, to be honest with you, and I’d like to think that I’ve been able to keep some nice skin on my face! [Laughs] How did your rugby teammates respond? They would think I was totally weird. The funny thing was, I’d be the one who would walk into the shower naked with a bunch of guys. I mean, I don’t get why a bunch of guys wouldn’t be comfortable with being naked together, but in rugby teams, specifically, it’s kind of weird that they keep their shorts on! So I’d always be the one who was naked, and I’d always have on the cleansing products too, and they would all give me crap about it.
