LGBT+ in the Middle East

WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT, CHEMSEX HAS BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF CONVERSATIONS ABOUT GAY MEN AND THEIR SEXUAL ACTIVITIES IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA FOR SOME YEARS NOW...

Despite mild diversions in the form of PrEP and increasing rates of HIV infection, it seems the lure of chemsex is impossible to resist – we just can’t stop talking about it, even if we’re not doing it. This can, however, also lead to wilful misinterpretation. It’s easy to turn what can be everyday sexual activities for some into salacious, scaremongering headlines. “Ooh, isn’t it funny the way the gays do it?” your average newspaper reader might trill, as they polish their own butt plugs.

“Who’d have thought it, eh?”
