IMPROVE YOUR MICROFLORA

Giving our gut bacteria (microflora) a boost before we hit the sun lounger may strengthen immunity and help us to fight off micro-organisms that trigger food poisoning. The way to do this is to eat foods containing probiotics – good bacteria – and prebiotics (which feed the probiotics). Scientists from Berkeley University explain: ‘Prebiotics are, typically, fibres and sugars that we don’t digest, but which stimulate the growth and activity of probiotics to benefit our gut.’
