THE CALMING INFLUENCE OF BEETROOT

Beetroot juice got huge plaudits when it was proved to REDUCE BLOOD PRESSURE. Now new research shows it could also HELP TO CONTROL HEART RATE in people with heart disease. How? The nitrates in beetroot dilate blood vessels, so reduce blood pressure, and it’s believed they could also lower activity of the sympathetic nervous system (this activates our fight-or-flight response), which becomes over-stimulated in people experiencing heart problems.
