Six months ago, a group of HFG readers set out to trim their belly fat and shrink their waistlines. We’ve caught up with them to see if they’ve won the inch war

THE RESULTS

AS REGULAR HFG READERS KNOW, losing weight is all about focusing on the long term, not on those faddy diets where you lose 7lb in a week, then put it all back on a few weeks later. And experts confirm losing fat from around your waist isn’t only about looking better, but it has important health benefits. MIDDLE MANAGEMENT

Losing belly fat lowers your risk of lifestyle diseases because ‘visceral’ fat around the belly area wraps itself around your organs – liver, pancreas and intestines – and increases insulin resistance.
