HELP WITH MAPPING MY DIET JOURNEY
I bought your February issue because the line on the cover about diabetes and low-carb diets caught my eye. I’ve just had my over-40s health check at my GP surgery and one test showed I was prediabetic. It has shocked me into action – and I need to lose weight. If I continue to gain pounds, the nurse explained, my prediabetes could turn into full-blown type 2 diabetes and I would need to take medication. I went straight to Juliette Kellow’s article Diabetes update: should you go low-carb?, which was reassuring and laid out the pros and cons clearly. For now, though, I’m going to cut out refined carbs, switch to wholegrains and follow Amanda’s monthly diet plan. I’ve already done the Monday to Sunday meals and it suits me fine. I’ll keep going until I get to my ideal weight. IZZY, VIA EMAIL
