STAR LETTER
Kicking the habit
Seventy minutes into my 110-minute daily workout, I arrived at ‘Addicted to exercise’ (March/April). Having gradually upped my sessions in order to chase that ‘feel-good factor’, I was spending up to two hours a day, seven days a week at the gym. So it was with a growing sense of unease that I read the article and realised that more than half of the statements to ‘spot an addictive attitude’ certainly applied to me. Thanks to your piece, I’ve sought help in the form of CBT counselling (something which my family are particularly relieved about). In a society where being superfit is seen as the ultimate goal, your feature was a timely reminder that being kind to myself is a far healthier achievement to aim for.
