Victorian factory owner Robert Owen’s mantra, “Eight hours labour, eight hours recreation, eight hours rest”, may have helped his employees have a life but, in the 21st century, it adds up to endless commutes and a 4pm slump. So it’s no surprise that, according to a new survey, most workers (58.6 per cent) would love to give traditional hours the P45. In the survey, 64 per cent of people claimed to work most efficiently in the morning, and just 21 per cent felt effective after lunch. So, how can we improve productivity?
