THE CELEBRATIONS BEGIN AT ST PAUL’S CATHEDRAL THE QUEEN AND PRINCE PHILIP

LEAD AN IMPRESSIVE ROLL CALL OF ROYALS GIVING THANKS FOR A LIFE OF SERVICE

In the biggest roll call of royals since the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the Queen was joined by three generations of her family beneath the historic dome of St Paul’s Cathedral in London for a moving ceremony celebrating her 90th birthday.

At the start of a long weekend of official birthday festivities, on Friday the monarch and the Duke of Edinburgh – who was celebrating his 95th birthday – were joined by 53 members of the royal family, including all eight of their grandchildren, at t h e N a t i o n a l S e r v i c e o f Thanksgiving.

‘As the Queen was arriving, such a tremendous cheer went up that it really caused a lump in the throat’

ROYAL FASHION SHOW

Also turning heads were the Duke of York’s daughters Princess Beatrice, in Burberry, and Princess Eugenie, who won plaudits for her red Eponine London dress.

‘Kate was just lovely – and very, very beautiful’

Almost stealing the show, however, were the younger royals, including 20-year-old Lady Amelia Windsor, the granddaughter of the Queen’s cousin the Duke of Kent, who once enjoyed a spell as an intern with Chanel in Paris and brought a touch of French flair to the day in her black pleated dress, shoes and bag by the fashion house as she arrived with her equally stylish sister, Lady Marina-Charlotte.

The Duke of Edinburgh – celebrating his 95th birthday – and the Queen, officially marking her 90th, wave to the crowd as they arrive at St Paul’s Cathedral for the National Service of Thanksgiving. Her Majesty is greeted by the Dean of St Paul’s the Very Rev.David Ison and other members of the Chapter
