SPACE INVADERS: THE LEGACY OF TV'S LYING LIZARDS
Anthony Spinner knew a lot about alien invasions. He had produced The Invaders in 1967 and that’s why he was contacted by an NBC executive in 1984. The network was planning their own weekly alien invasion show, V and asked Spinner if he could supply a tape of any old Invaders episode to see how he dealt with a similar premise. “I dug out a video-tape of the show and sent it to
them. Whether that helped them or not, I don’t know,” says Spinner, “V didn’t last very long. I never saw the show but I found it interesting they were trying to learn from a science fiction show I had done twenty years ago!” V-The Mini Series premiered on American networks for two nights in May 1983, but
few thought it would be a hit.
