Following Terrorism’s Breadcrumb Trail

TERRORISM has affected everyone in the United Kingdom, and as Islamist terror attacks continue to become a sadly familiar feature of life in cities all over Europe we are realising that its victims can be anyone; anywhere, at any time. Every terror attack provokes a circus on our television sets of wall-to-wall frenetic, anxiety-inducing coverage and fresh commitments from the Westminster government to clamp down on extremism and take the war to the heartlands of these barbaric organisations in the Middle East. But all of this gets tired and repetitive to a British public increasingly wakening up to the fact that – in one way or another – the London government is itself the cause.

Once upon a time assertions such as this were the fodder of conspiracy theorists, but the picture being drawn by government whistle-blowers and leaks of secret government and military files on both sides of the Atlantic have shown this indeed to be the case. United States diplomatic cables openly discussing the link between Saudi Arabia – a US and British ally – and the Islamic State are now in the public domain, exposing a cash and arms trail linking London and Washington to the sectarian, genocidal violence of almost every major player in the world of jihadi terrorism.
