This month Kate challenged our designers to take inspiration from the written word and to create knitted designs which are as pleasing and balanced as a poem – and I think they’ve done a fantastic job! I love Michelle’s Diamante socks (page 84) which are inspired by a poetic form and Lana’s stunning Kavana shawl, inspired by the rhythm of beautiful poetry (page 46).
When winter rolled around this year, Kate immediately started making garments, which is unusual for her! Regular readers will know that Kate very rarely finishes a jumper but she’s just cast off her second of the year and is looking for more! If you’re on the hunt for a gorgeous garment to get your needles clicking too, why not try our cover star, the Traveller pullover (page 20)? It’s knitted in our favourite shade! We’ve also been eyeing up Anni’s Marcel jumper (page 88) – we think it would be a really versatile addition to any wardrobe.
While you’re deciding what to cast on first, why not make yourself a comforting mug of hot chocolate and settle down for a good read? We’ve got some fascinating articles this month, including a profile of A Verb for Keeping Warm (page 26), an interview with Lola of Third Vault Yarns (page 44) and our A-Z guide to British fibres (page 50).
