Beyoncé began singing at an early age. When she was 11, she formed a girl group called Girl Tyme with two friends and her cousin Kelly Rowland (who later sang with her in the trio Destiny’s Child). They were very determined to become famous; they used to jog and sing at the same time to build up their vocal power and lung capacity. In the late 1990s, she was lead singer of the R&B girl-group Destiny's Child.
