On the eve of joining my fellow judges to choose the 70 exhibition paintings and 50 highly commended works for this year’s Leisure Painter Open Competition, I am reminded of just how important it is for amateur painters to enter painting competitions. Every year I hear from readers, who are astounded when their paintings make it through to exhibition then go on to win a prize. We are not always the best judges of our own work.
With this in mind, I have great pleasure in announcing our partnership with Sketch for Survival and the new SFS Introducing wildlife art competition. This is part of the Explorers against Extinction campaign, focused on raising awareness and funds to help save some of the world’s most endangered species.
