Joining together
Last year the Ewelme Watercress Painters decided to participate in a composite painting project. One of its members, Trish Scott, sent us this report: ‘Members brought along copies of paintings, which they each felt a passion for and which they thought could work for everyone. Copies of these paintings were passed around and the one that received the most votes was decided the winner. This turned out to be one of David Hockney’s depictions of the Yorkshire Wolds – The Spring Tunnel, a joyous painting celebrating spring in all its glory, shown in his exhibition, A Bigger Picture at the Royal Academy of Arts in 2012. The painting was enlarged and divided into 12 equal sections.
