West Lothian Presbytery welcomed Dr Arie Glas, the new Medical Directory of Mulanje Mission Hospital, during a visit to Scotland in February. He took up this position on April 1, succeeding Dr Ruth Shakespeare, who was West Lothian’s mission partner. Dr Glas spoke to meetings in Bathgate, Linlithgow and Uphall about the work of the Mission Hospital in combating illness and its causes in southern Malawi. Mulanje Mission Hospital traces its history back to the 1890s, when a mission station was established by Church of Scotland missionaries on the slopes of Mount Mulanje.
