EL NIDO, PHILIPPINES
Karst adrift

The cliffs in El Nido are formed from limestone laid down 250 million years ago in a shallow sea, forced upward as a result of the collision of tectonic plates beneath India and mainland China
One of the most popular and iconic activities to do while staying in El Nido on Palawan is an island-hopping boat tour. The tour I was on consisted of swimming, snorkelling, eating fresh barbecued fish on an isolated beach and exploring Miniloc Island.
I took this photo while kayaking in the Small Lagoon, which is only accessible through a narrow gap between two giant limestone rocks. Once I had made my way through, I was greeted with tranquil turquoise waters, jagged limestone karsts and an array of marine life. I feel so lucky to have had the chance to travel there and capture such an amazing place on my camera.
