‘I was at SensŌ-ji Temple in Tokyo. A lot of people wear traditional dress during the festival and the whole event has a traditional romance. I took this shot spontaneously, as the lady turned her gaze beneath the blossom.’
‘This is the Nakameguro district of Tokyo, looking out over the Meguro River. Woodblock artists used to make prints of these types of scenes, which is one of the reasons I was drawn to taking this picture. It was early April when I took this shot, though the blossom season shifts each year.’
