The Church of the Holy Cross in Pedoulas in the Troodos Mountains

Hero hikes in Cyprus

Anyone planning a winter hiking trip to Cyprus faces a choice: whether to strike out among the terraced olive groves, crumbling Byzantine churches and pineswathed mountains of the interior, or instead to make for the coast, and explore cliff-top trails that meander above azure waters, traversing beaches where turtles nest. In both bases there’s a multitude of day walks to choose from – all enjoy spectacular countryside views beftting any classical epic.
