The canals of _____, a beachside district of _____, are not quite on the scale of the Italian original, but are a much-loved local landmark. More eccentric is the Giant Binoculars sculpture that forms the entrance to the Chiat/ Day Building. It was designed by the Canadian-born, Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank _____, who went on to build the city’s _____ Concert Hall. The namesake for this music venue moved to the area in 1923. He is honoured with one of some 2,600 pink terrazzo stars on the sidewalk, and of course in the name of the first of his company’s themed resorts, opened here in 1955. In 2028, this metropolis of 13 million people will be hosting its third Olympics; the only other city to have managed a triple is _____, though Paris will do so in 2024.
