37 FIND WINTER ADVENTURE IN SWEDEN
The UK’s winter weather is often a tad uninspiring, but Discover the World’s three-night break in northern Sweden is a glimpse through the wardrobe into Narnia. Staying at Aurora Mountain Lodge, near the remote village of Lannavaara, families spend their days surrounded by a wilderness of pine forests dusted with fresh powder and rivers cracked with ice. There are ample opportunities for snowbound fun included in the price, from husky mushing to snowshoe safaris in search of Arctic wildlife – and no sledger could fail to be thrilled by the chance to be towed along by snowmobile. In the evening there are sled tours in search of the northern lights, with guests snacking on local specialities around an open fire while they wait out their appearance. At the end of each day families return to their own cosy cabin, complete with woodburning stove.
