This month...
… I’ve put on my best concentration face while allowing my imagination to drift resolutely out-of-offce, to locations visited by my colleagues in the making of this issue. Deputy Editor Amanda Canning toured the surreal turquoise lakes of the Canadian wilderness (such as Peyto Lake, below) in the company of cowboys and their occasionally accommodating steers (p60), and Jonathan Gregson passed through the foothills of the Peruvian Andes to photograph a tribe of coffee growers (p100). Senior Staff Writer Oliver Smith explored unsung medieval wonders in the heart of Spain (p45), and Sub-editor Rory Goulding – whose immense travel knowledge has formed a foundation of this magazine since our launch 90 issues ago – traced Tokyo’s high and low towns (p78). I suspect even his giant brain struggled to compute the sights that can greet a traveller if they take the wrong exit from Shinjuku station late on a Friday night.
