CITY TRAIL
A breeding ground for greatness, Oxford is an otherworldly kind of place, where bookish hordes wander cobbled lanes, grotesque gargoyles watch gowned cyclists, and children in cassocks scurry to choir practice in ancient chapels. Its medieval libraries, secret gardens and weird goings-on are a rich source of inspiration for creative minds. Here, Baroque churches inspired poets, and tiny pubs hosted those who became our most famous storytellers. The city's historic heart remains untouched, and it's not hard to imagine Oxford's world-renowned writers ambling the lanes exactly as you see them today. When you visit, you may be rubbing shoulders with the next generation of greats, as they stroll between lectures and libraries.
