Mesa Arch basks in the morning sunshine, with the pointy peaks of Washer Woman Arch visible below
Thirty years ago I took a road trip across the States with my family that sparked a passion for travel and photography that has grown and grown over the years. Recently, I decided to retrace my steps. The highlight of the trip turned out to be Canyonlands National Park, which we had driven past when I was a child. Researching sunrises in the park, I was enthralled by Mesa Arch and knew that was where I should head at dawn. When I arrived I was alone, watching the mountains in the distance turn blue, then pink. Then a burst of sun from behind the clouds lit up the underside of the arch. I haven’t seen a more beautiful sunrise before or since.
