A s is often the case in record collecting, records that were once considered common or standard have been creeping up in price and collectability due to either condition or the unearthing of slight differences in pressing. David Bowie’s 12th album, “Heroes”, is one of these records. You would see it in nearly every record collection, but over the past few years the original issues have become quite the collector’s items.
The first UK, issue released in October is identifiable by ‘A3’ matrix numbers and has ‘Dave’s R.C.A’ etched into the run-off groove. These were issued in both laminated and glossy sleeves featuring the iconic cover photo by Masayoshi Sukita. The laminated version appears less, and some sources have indicated this to be the very first pressing of the album. As this new info came to light over the past few years, it has led to first pressings in laminated sleeves creeping up to as high as £150 in value if in mint condition.
