In June 1968, The Stones were in Olympic Studios in London when French auteur Jean-Luc Godard asked to film the band at work on the follow-up to Their Satanic Majesties Request. The resulting film – Sympathy For The Devil (One Plus One) – was an explicit attempt to comment, albeit pretty obliquely, on the political turmoil fomenting all around the world; from the civil protests gripping France in May to the assassination of Robert Kennedy in the US, which took place at the time of the filming.
