TRY ATHLETICS COACH TIM FRY’S STRONG-CORE CIRCUIT FOR PERFECT FORM ALL THE WAY TO THE FINISH LINE

WORKOUT

Core strength is important for anyone who runs until their legs are tired – and if that’s not you, you need to run a bit harder. In the latter stages of a long, tiring run, a weak core leads to poor form. As a result, the tail-end of a run can be a slow, uncomfortable experience.

If you’re a trail runner or compete in cross-country, core strength becomes even more critical, keeping you upright on uneven surfaces. Complete three sets of this circuit for run-raising core control.

If you’re really tired, have up to a minute between sets, but ideally you should keep rest to a minimum.

About Men's Running

Find your form with the January issue of Men’s Running. Much of our sport’s appeal is in its simplicity: stick on a pair of trainers and you’re good to go. If you’re serious about improving, however, it pays to tweak your technique. This issue is all about helping you do just that: from efficiency-improving tips from a world-renowned running specialist, to a firsthand look at a revolutionary new form of gait analysis. We’ve also got exclusive reviews of the latest stability shoe and top-to-toe kit suggestions for winter running, as well as the usual training advice, race reports, and nutrition know-how to help you run stronger than ever.
