Let There Be Nothing
PROSTHETIC
Byzantine power metal tales from the spires of Salt Lake City
Created after guitarist Tony Cordisco and singer John Yelland met at a Blind Guardian gig, Judicator started as a scrappy tribute to the German power metal vanguards but evolved into a melodically agile outfit not afraid to toy with the rulebook. While Blind Guardian’s influence is stark, Judicator avoid any cheeseball fantasy tales. On Let There Be Nothing stories of Byzantine general Belisarius are told on eight tracks of mountainous power metal melodies with subtly progressive hooks and pastoral dips. The dynamic interplay of barbed thrash and NWOBHM-style riffing with Yelland’s crusading lyrics on Autumn Of Souls puts a new spin on the ‘power’ in power metal.
