TIME TO KILL
Italian death metallers get back to business after a six-year gap
Proving that all good things come to those who wait, Across The Swarm’s first full-length, coming six years after their debut LP, is an exhilarating slab of death metal. Clocking in at around 23 minutes, Projections may be lean in length but sonically it’s satisfyingly meaty. Like a swarm of murder hornets, the Italian four-piece go in for the kill from the get-go with the molar-rattling Monito. 2016 single Waiting For The Hyenas is another highlight and the rabid number remains their finest track thus far, while the Fear Factory-tinged The Friction is driven by a powerful groove and punchy percussion. Speaking of drums, guesting tub-thumper Raphael Saini’s performances throughout reaffirm his status as one of the best in the business.
