ME SACO UN OJO/DARK DESCENT
Melbourne death metallers concoct a potent new formula
The more you dig into Aussie death metallers Faceless Burial, the more enigmatic they reveal themselves to be: utterly atavistic while somehow forward-thinking, and dripping with authenticity, despite members cutting their teeth with indie, garage and grindcore acts. This second full-length is similarly rife with intrigue, spewing out magnificent glottal grooves, lurching mid-paced blasts and riffs that coil around themselves only to split open and gush forth live, squirming young. While hints of Morbid Angel, Immolation and Necroticism-era Carcass abound the band remain themselves - from the huge, jagged vistas of the title track to epic closer, Ravished To The Unknown, which conjures sickening visions of terrified horses being sucked down into a dark and stinking bog.
