Politics Versus The Erection
SEASON OF MIST
Grindcore A-listers reach a memorable new tipping point
The first thing you’ll notice about Politics Versus The Erection is the cover’s combining of MAD magazine mascot Alfred E. Neuman and President Orange. It’s effective, hilarious and surprising it’s taken this long for two and two to be put together. What becomes immediately apparent on the fourth album by the rotating-cast grindcore supergroup is the performance of vocalist Kevin Sharp. The din solidly hails from the marrow of latter-day Napalm Death - who provide the majority of members for this iteration - and old-school hardcore, but it’s how Sharp elevates his howling and bellowing with catchy vocal lines and memorable phrasing in Carrion, Eliminate and Promise that moves Politics… beyond the customary.
