REAPER
The Atonality Of Flesh
Filthy first-wave BM worshippers erect their own piss-soaked temple
IRON BONEHEAD
Sweden’s Reaper have a way with titles. Their 2018 demo, Ravenous Storm Of Piss, sounded just as you would imagine, and so did 2019’s full-length debut, Unholy Nordic Noise. The Atonality Of Flesh continues the trend; it’s a noisy, d-beatin’ trip back through time to black metal’s punkish formative days. Unlike Hellripper or Midnight, Reaper keep their sound right in the ‘kvlt’ zone. The band’s searing musicianship and snarling vocals will adrenaline-spike even the most jaded Sodom or Bathory diehards. Armed with tracks of the necksnapping calibre of Me, You And The Juices Of Death and the Dissection-into-Slayer blast Piss, Bile And Violence, Reaper have what it takes to make their own mark.
