THE RETURN OF 10,000 overjoyed fans to Donington for the Download Pilot in mid-June represented an incredible turning point for the UK’s live music industry. After all, this wasn’t just the first time a multi-day music event had happened in almost 18 months; it was also a signal that such events could happen. Summer 2021 may look desolate thanks to numerous cancellations arising from uncertainty around the pandemic, but for Bloodstock, the UK’s biggest dedicated metal fest, the Download Pilot has given them renewed hope.
