“GROWING UP IN the 80s, you only heard what you were specifically exposed to. My parents were immigrants from Nigeria, so they didn’t buy the Top 40 albums – they were listening to King Sunny Adé or Ebenezer Obey, these old Nigerian cats. But then I’d turn on the radio and hear Madonna, Whitney Houston or MICHAEL JACKSON, the big artists at the time. I remember hearing The Way You Make Me Feel and that song just gave me energy, which made me realise music was cool, because it could change your state.
