Two further releases from Gecko Models will please fans of light armour. Gecko’s Scimitar 2 TES (ref. 35GM0051), released last year, was a great kit but something of a challenge to assemble and paint given the bar armour fitted to it. The Scimitar 2 remains in service in limited numbers in the British Army and in 2020 and 2021 it was deployed to Estonia as part of NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence there and the British Army’s Operation Cabrit, where it served with the Queen’s Royal Hussars and Mercian Regiment battlegroups. Scimitar Mk. 2 CVR(T), Operation Cabrit, Estonia (ref. 35GM0053) captures the vehicle as it appeared in that theatre, without the bar armour, roll cage and other Afghanistan Theatre Entry Standard (TES) modifications. This will make this kit much easier to assemble and paint and it is, as I discovered in the May 2022 issue of MMI, an excellent kit.
