The Internet is a wonderful thing. Most of our contributors come from outside the UK, from Iran to the United States, and from Russia to Singapore. We are a truly international community of modellers. The SMC show was a really special occasion for us, however, because we had the chance to meet in person many of the contributors and modellers who have supported the magazine over the years. The familiarity that the Internet breeds, especially Facebook where we share not only modelling but our family lives with our online friends, would have seemed bizarre a few years ago, but now meeting contributors for the first time was really like greeting old friends. A case in point was one of our longstanding contributors, Özgür Güner. David and Özgür have worked together for about five years now, and Özgür has become one of the mainstays of the magazine, consistently submitting excellent articles across a range of subjects. SMC was, however, the first time Özgür had met the Guideline team in person and it really was like meeting old friends. We celebrated Özgür’s contribution to the magazine with a special book collecting together all the articles he has contributed over the years. The Internet is, as I said, a wonderful thing. Our Facebook page now has over well over 63,000 followers, making it the biggest military modelling site on Facebook.

If you are a manufacturer or retailer and would like to take advantage of the reach offered by our Facebook page to promote your products then please contact me, Tom Foxon, Guideline Publications’ Group PR and Marketing Director (tom@regallitho.co.uk).
