THOSE NICE FOLKS WHO MAKE your Greek yogurt create waste that could one day be used in jet fuel. Mixing whey—the watery remains after protein is strained from milk— with thousands of species of bacteria and then heating this brew transforms it into a new material called bio-oil, which could be used in biofuels or as additives in livestock feed.
