THE PANHANDLER was really pissing Pasquale Parrello off, so he told his underlings to take care of the guy. FLASH MOB: Members of the Gambino crime family getting a free ride downtown in 2008; the recent sweep by the feds picked up members of four of the five Cosa Nostra families.
When the wiseguys found the panhandler on that day in June 2011, they attacked him with glass jars and steel-toed boots, according to a federal indictment unsealed August 4. One of the attackers, Ronald “the Beast” Mastrovincenzo, was later caught on a wiretap speaking in code about the incident: “Remember the old days in the neighborhood when we used to play baseball?... A ballgame like that was done.”
