APPIN SWI’s first meeting of 2018, a Corners Night, was held in Port Appin Hall on Thursday January 18. It was a craft event with each corner making a poppy using a different craft.
Doreen Evans was in charge of the crochet corner, Linda MacLeod the knitting corner and Brenda MacLeod took the paper-making corner.
The patterns for the knitting and crochet poppies were created by the Scottish Co-op, which supports the ex-servicemen’s charity, Poppy Scotland. ‘It was a very enjoyable and productive evening,’ the organisers said. The result of the competition for three pieces of rocky road was: gold – Jessie MacKenzie and silver – Catriona MacKenzie.
