THE Fort William Railway Bowling Club has started the season off with a new president. Allan MacDonald, who has been involved with the club for the past five years, took on the role last weekend.
He told the Lochaber Times: ‘I was vice-president for the past two years. My main duties will be welcoming people at the start of each weekend competition, announcing which competitions are being played and doing the presentations afterwards.’
During the week Allan has his own taxi company, which he balances with his responsibilities at the club. He said: ‘I have to take weekends off, which is obviously the busiest time for taxis, but I need to be at the club.’
