A BLOOD transfusion service has asked for patience after an appointment system saw potential donors walk away from a donor drive in Lochaber because of lengthy waiting times.
The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) introduced an appointments system in the north and north east of Scotland in early 2016. The Oban Times was told the system meant some people who attended a donor session in Fort William on December 29 were forced to wait for up to two hours.
One reader said potential donors turned up to the Nevis Centre but became frustrated as they were told they did not have an appointment.
