LORN Natural History Group is delighted to welcome Professor Nick Owens, the distinguished marine scientist and recently appointed director of the Scottish Association of Marine Science (SAMS) as its first speaker of 2017.
Among his previous positions are director of the British Antarctic Survey and director of the Sir Alister Hardy Foundation of Ocean Science. His talk, entitled Geo-engineering Climate Change: do two wrongs make a right?, takes place at 7.30 pm on Tuesday January 17, on the Seil Island Community Hall, Ellenabeich.
Prof Owens’s topic may elicit strong views around whether human-induced climate change is real or not, although his focus will be on possible engineering solutions on a planetary scale to reduce the impact and effects of the changes.
