Mark Ellis, 54, from Oban said: ‘It [the street] was not that bad before. It’s nice brick work, but what’s the point. It must have cost a fortune. It’s really tidy, but it will be deadly when it coats with ice in the winter. It wasn’t worth the money. Nowhere near. Someone in Argyll could have got the contract – surely they could have got local tradesmen.’
