ARGYLL and Bute MP Brendan O’Hara has spoken of his ‘deep concern’ for the growth of whisky exports if Scotland leaves the single market and customs union.
According to HMRC figures, whisky exports were valued at £931 million in the first quarter of 2018 – a six per cent rise on the same period last year.
Mr O’Hara said: ‘With several world-class whisky distilleries in Argyll and Bute, this sharp increase in exports is fantastic news for our constituency, Scotland and the whole of the UK economy.
