THE plight of Billy Irving, the Connel man languishing in a notorious Indian jail, was highlighted again this week, writes Martin Laing.
Ex-paratrooper Billy, together with five other UK ex-service personnel employed by US company Advanfort to provide protection against Somali pirates, was arrested by the Indian authorities when their ship strayed into their territorial waters.
Billy’s fiancée Yvonne MacHugh this week (Tuesday September 19) renewed her plea for help to free him and his fellow shipmates – one of whom is suffering from cancer.
