As the school starts celebrations to mark 40 years since its founding, pupils and staff at Lomond are also celebrating record SQA exam results with pupils attaining success significantly above the national and Argyll and Bute pass rates at all levels. Just under half of all S4 pupils achieved six or more A grades at National 5, with a 91% pass rate. Our S5 pupils also performed exceptionally well with 40% of pupils achieving four or five As at higher. 78% of pupils at Higher achieved at A or B grade, an 11% increase on last year.
Johanna Urquhart, Principal, stated: ‘Once again I am absolutely thrilled at the success of Lomond’s pupils in their SQA exams. It is testament to their hard work and determination over a sustained period of time. Equally, the efforts of our hard working and dedicated teaching staff deserve to be recognised. Staff go the ‘the extra mile’ in providing lunchtime, after school, and in the case of boarders, evening academic support for pupils, and their hard work has paid off. The results are even more pleasing given that Lomond is non-selective and has an open presentation policy.’
Lomond School takes great pride in offering the scope and choice for our young people to develop as individuals both academically and socially.
